SPIL GAMES works with top game publishers and platform developers worldwide to offer the best content: high-quality, fun, and intriguing games. In addition to third-party games, we also develop and launch our own games in house.
We have more than 150 employees, spread between our offices in Hilversum (the Netherlands), Shanghai (China), and Krakow (Poland). The Job
Tasks and Responsibilities: Development of our gaming portals is not an end in itself but a means to meet the high quality standards for which we strive. Whether it is discussing designs, creating and testing code, or polishing the finished product for delivery, SPIL GAMES offers abundant challenges for a strong specialist in the web development field. For this reason, we seek a PHP Developer with at least 3 years of experience in a computing environment. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about finding creative solutions using PHP/MySQL and has a solid experience with HTML/CSS and jQuery.
The PHP Developer must have experience in developing robust applications in a hosted software model. You will be responsible for the development of various gaming portals and internal systems. Projects will include improving and extending the existing code base, developing code appropriate for a high-availability/high-reliability/horizontally-scalable environment and taking ownership of the design and management of various projects throughout their life-cycles.
As a PHP Developer, you will be highly involved in the development of our gaming portals. You will work with the Development Director, Project Managers, Channel Managers, and other development team members to keep our gaming portals up to date. Additionally, you will: • Design database-driven websites using PHP and MySQL • Work with creative designers to turn their design into CSS/XHTML • Use AJAX/JavaScript (including jQuery) to create front-end features • Provide technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and resolving complex problems based on your knowledge and experience • Work with Project Managers to plan and monitor schedules and assignments

Your Profile: • 3+ years experience in a computing environment • 2+ years of development in PHP or other main web scripting language • Knowledge of and experience with HTML /CSS • Familiarity with browser quirks and workarounds • Solid experience with Javascript (including jQuery) • Minimal HBO level • Experience developing in a Linux/Unix environment • Experience working with source control like SVN • Extensive experience with optimizing MySQL; including indexes, triggers, and queries • Experience with programming, configuring, and maintaining servers • Proficient in MS Office applications • Good knowledge of internet computing platforms • Good knowledge of multiple department applications, subsystems, and functions • Strong problem-solving and time-management skills • Solid oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English • Experience in complex project environments • Works well in team environments as well as individually to complete tasks with minimal supervision • A friendly person with a great attitude who looks forward to each day of work
